This black-and-white series captures my personal experience in Tokyo, where the Skytree’s presence felt both grand and unsettling, much like a modern-day Barad-dûr. Whether stepping onto a busy street or glimpsing it through a narrow alleyway, its shadow was constant, an unspoken reminder that it sees everything, everywhere. The contrast of monochrome deepens this feeling of quiet surveillance, casting the cityscape in shades of mystery and tension. Through these images, “I See You” explores the strange intimacy between a city’s towering structures and those who move beneath them—a silent gaze that follows, whispers, and waits.
